Golden Teacher and Blue Meanie are two of the most popular strains in our mushroom collection — and two of the most different. Here's how they compare, so you can pick the one that suits you.
Golden Teacher
Golden Teacher (Psilocybe cubensis) is generally considered a good starting point for people new to psilocybin mushrooms. It has a balanced profile, with milder visuals and a gentler body sensation than many other strains.
Blue Meanie
Blue Meanie (Panaeolus cyanescens) is significantly more potent than standard cubensis strains. It produces a stronger, faster onset and more intense visuals — better suited to someone who already has experience with psilocybin mushrooms.
Which One Should You Choose?
If this is your first time, Golden Teacher is the more approachable option. If you've used psilocybin mushrooms before and are looking for a stronger experience, Blue Meanie is worth considering. Whichever you choose, always start with a low dose — see our dosing guide for reference amounts — and use in a safe, comfortable environment with a trusted person present. Avoid mixing with alcohol or other substances, and do not use if you have a personal or family history of psychosis or schizophrenia.
